Fulltime Under Keeper
An opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a fulltime under keeper at Audley End Estate.
The successful candidate will:
- possess 2-3 years relevant practical game keepering experience
- a qualification in game and wildlife management
- be passionate about gamekeeping
- be hardworking, honest and committed to the role and lifestyle the position offers.
A competitive salary package is offered including accommodation on the estate, pension and private health care. Training will be provided where required and an early commencement date is anticipated.
The position will involve
- Working closely under the guidance of the head keeper in the day-to-day care, management, and welfare of the game birds
- Assisting with all aspects of shoot management and to encourage and conserve the natural habitat on the Estate.
- Maintaining a working knowledge of all relevant codes of conduct and good professional practice
- Assisting with established high standards of vermin control and delivery of the deer management plan
- Observing a high level of respect for the environment and encourage others to do likewise
- Assisting in the running of the beating line and smooth operation of shoot days.
- Assisting with the preparation of game for direct sales to the public.
- Working within a close-knit team as well as on an individual basis.
- Maintaining all shoot equipment along with light vehicle maintenance and implements.
- Ad hoc assistance will be required across the estate business with forestry management, estate maintenance and relief farm work as may be required from time to time.
- An ability to work flexible hours as required by the role and a willingness to undertake all other tasks pertinent to the role.
- A full UK driving license, valid shotgun certificate/and firearms certificate are required.
- Experience of ATV driving, would be advantage but training can be provided
